NEWS: Costa Rica Votes for Equality
As we consider our future home, one of the main questions on our mind is - "Will our marriage be recognized in other Latin countries?" With timing on our side, a unique synchronicity, Costa Rica's latest presidential elections was largely a line in the sand on precisely this issue. A mostly Catholic culture with deep conservative values did not stop Costa Ricans from choosing the more humanitarian approach in their vote for equality. If we choose to move to Costa Riaca, our marriage will be recognized thus affording us the same benefits of heterosexual married couples. This moves Costa Rica to the top of our list of possible future homes.
Congratulations our Costa Rican brothers and sisters. Equality for all people can be the only right way of the future. Viva Costa Rica!

In January, the inter-American Court of Human Rights (A governing body similar to the United Nations) ruled that Latin nations must recognize gay marriage. Conservatives have fought to prevent the adoption of this ruling while others have moved to accept and implement. Perhaps by our September expatriation date, the various Central American Latin countries will have proceeded adoption of this ruling and like the US and other nations that already have, will begin to see the non-issue this really makes in everyday society. If anything, it is the promotion of LOVE! How can this be wrong?Congratulations our Costa Rican brothers and sisters. Equality for all people can be the only right way of the future. Viva Costa Rica!

Preservationists have battled to keep the selection of this decision while others have moved to acknowledge and actualize.
